In the morning on Valentine's Day, Scott left boxes of chocolates for me and Cordelia. Mine had rather more nuts in it than I was comfortable with. I couldn't tell which nuts were safe and which ones weren't, and I couldn't always tell in advance which candies had nuts in them. I didn't react to any of them, however, so I guess they weren't walnuts. I did give Cordelia the two peanut butter candies and the chocolate walnut cluster.
Scott needed to stop at the store on his way home, so I told him to buy himself a box of candy from me and Cordelia. He did so. He also picked up a rose for me and one for Cordelia. They're in a vase now, looking quite nice.
I did a bit of writing on Friday. I didn't quite finish the scene I was working on, so I'm not sure when I'll manage it. This week, both Cordelia and Scott will be home all the time, and I tend not to write when they're around. I'm almost done with the first draft of chapter 21 of "Rheotaxis." It's not carrying the plot forward as much as I hoped, but I think it's readable. Chapter 22 and 23 will contain quite a bit more plot.
Saturday, we went to the library and then walked to Totoro for lunch. I hadn't expected to do that, so I didn't have my scarf (I thought I wouldn't need it for just going back and forth in library parking lot). Totoro serves their dinner menu all day on weekends, just giving 20% off during lunch hours. We hadn't expected that. Usually, one can get a good meal for under $10 a person at lunch time. We spent a bit more than that. I had a teriyaki chicken bento. Scott had teriyaki chicken. Cordelia had miso, rice and a couple of appetizers.
After Totoro, we went for bubble tea. Cordelia stayed in the car with Scott while I went in alone to buy bubble tea for all three of us. Cordelia has decided that she likes taro. She used to always get honeydew, but now she's always getting taro. Scott always gets either pineapple or peach. I vary what I get. This time, I got green apple.
We had originally planned to go to Southfield for a friend's birthday party, but the snow was blowing like crazy while we were out for the library and such. It didn't feel safe being out doing what we were doing. Getting on the highway seemed stupid. I feel bad because this friend lives out of state and was only visiting because his mother needed to have surgery. We didn't manage to see him while he was here.
