Ever since my mother was diagnosed as hypothyroid, I've been requesting that my doctor test my thyroid function about once a year (I need blood tests twice a year due to the medications I take, so the thyroid test doesn't require much extra from me). Up until now, it's always come back normal, but this time, I'm hypothyroid. My doctor seems pleased to have something treatable to label me with. She'll be calling in the prescription today. Scott should be able to pick it up on his way home from work. I'll have to call the pharmacy, though, as I've got a couple of questions, mainly if I can take other medications at the same time I take the thyroid stuff or if I have to wait.

This will alter my morning routine a good bit. Usually, I get up, take medications, get dressed, get Cordelia up and make a cup of coffee. The coffee will definitely be out of the question for at least an hour after I take the thyroid medication. I should still be able to fit it in before I take Cordelia to school, though. There's a half hour there after the hour wait expires, and breakfast (with take with food meds) won't take all of that time.

I really hope I can take other meds with the thyroid. Needing to wedge in another set of meds during the morning would be really challenging. I can't combine those meds with my take with food morning meds because the reflux medication can block the absorbtion of vitamins, and I take calcium and magnesium as part of the breakfast set of meds. Oh, medications, why so complicated?
