Scott and I got to bed late last night because we were fighting with my laptop. Three or four days ago, Messages suddenly couldn’t connect to my AIM account. I assumed it was temporary. When it had been going on for more than a day, I restarted my laptop to see if that would help. A day later, I started looking at account settings. I can log into my account if I go to the AOL website, but my laptop (not just Messages) says that it can’t confirm the 'account name or password.'

We googled and followed the suggestions we found. None of them helped. My laptop won’t support a more recent OS than El Capitan. It’s two years too old for Sierra, so upgrading the OS isn’t an option. As far as I can tell, Messages will only get updated if I upgrade my OS. Messages also has a really useless help function. There isn’t a section on troubleshooting. It’s entirely rah-rah-look-at-the-neat-thing-we-can-do! The Apple website area for Messages has the same problem.

At this point, the only thing we can think to try is for me to make a new, test account. I’m not enthusiastic. I’ve been using this AIM account since before Cordelia was born. Rebuilding my contacts would be a PITA. Yes, there are only about six people on my list who actually still use AIM, but…

We had two friends over last night and played Sentinels of the Multiverse. It’s the first time we’ve had people over since the end of November. We lost the game, but we had fun anyway. We just got unlucky. It was actually the environment that did us all in, and we all died in the same turn.

I tried to nap yesterday, but the times of day when I’m most awake tend to be the best times for me to nap. Basically, I’m most awake between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. and some time after when I go to bed. The best time to nap is, of course, the morning, and going to bed early might be a good idea. Yesterday morning, I lay in bed for about two hours and told myself stories. I feel, right now, like I could sleep, but I have a dental appointment in an hour and a half. Tomorrow, I also have a morning appointment, so I won’t be napping then, either.

Well, I have time enough to lie down for about forty five minutes. I think I’ll do that. The other option is more sugar, fat, and caffeine.
