Branch. It's Just That Any One of Us Is Half Without Another One Is You - I've mostly been reading gen, and this isn't really that, but I'd seen bits of this go by on my reading list and had been interested in taking a look. I finally got around to it and quite enjoyed it. This is a Naruto AU in which Sasuke never goes to Orochimaru. This one even kept me up late reading.

Return of Zita the Spacegirl - I liked how this wrapped up the story. There were interesting new characters, and characters from the two previous volumes put in an appearance. This one starts off with Zita on trial for crimes consisting of every she's done since her adventures started.

rthstewart. Harold and Morgan - I've been following this fic as a WIP for quite some time. I'd fallen behind by enough that I had about two hundred pages worth to read when I finally downloaded the finished fic. This is subtitled 'Not a Romance,' but it is a romance really. King Edmund of Narnia and Banker Morgan of House Linch have their ups and downs and they're decidedly not interested in the long term up until they are. There are a lot of other things going on, and it's a lot of fun.

Wendell, Sarah. Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels - I had to get this by interlibrary loan (it came from the other side of the state. I love our state's ILL network. I can get just about anything). This was a light read and didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. It was basically a step by step argument as to why reading romance novels can be good for a person. I'm already pro-romance novels (though I rarely read them), so I wasn't a hard sell.

Started but not finished:

Bourbon, Melissa. Pleating for Mercy - I feel like I should have liked this more. I found the narrative voice engaging, but then the author dumped in something like half a dozen characters all at once, and I couldn't track who was who or how they related to each other. It was too much all at once, and I just couldn't go on.

Crispin, Edmund. Swan Song - I read more of this than I probably should have. I kept hoping that the characters would find some depth, and it never happened. Even the detective lacked a personality. I'm not sure why GoodReads thought I'd enjoy this author, but I shan't try another by Crispin (just as well. I'd have to get them by ILL as this is the only one our library has).

Standage, Tom. The Victorian Internet - I probably should have renewed this again. The book, the only copy the library owns, was damaged enough that, if someone looks at it closely, it will probably be discarded. A pity that because I do want to read it at some point, and I'd rather not have to get it by ILL. Still, I had it for eight weeks and only got around to opening it last week. I think I got three chapters in.
