Since I'm sitting here and trying not to think about errands unaccomplished or how rotten I feel, I thought I'd do that song lyrics meme now that I actually have music on my laptop. I'm not going to ask for artist names on this because, in at least one case, the song was taped twenty some years ago at a filksing, and I have no idea who's singing. (Actually, I'm not entirely sure of the title on that one, but I have a fair guess, so I'm keeping it.) I'm also being a little arbitrary about what constitutes the first line of the song.

Anyway, these are the first lines of the first twenty songs to come up on random play on my iTunes, discarding one in Japanese (Much as I love "Absolute Destiny Apocalypse," I'm sticking with English). If you recognize the songs, comments with your guesses.

Yes, and I think we know it from the same filk tape. ::laughs:: I should have known you'd get that one.

I *think* the singer's name was Joey Shoji, but I might be utterly wrong about who was singing or right and mangling his name. I need to persuade Scott to digitize more of those live filksing tapes. The quality's poor, and they're all at least second generation, but I don't have those songs anywhere else. The tapes aren't getting any younger, after all.

Probably. I haven't listened to them in ages (mainly because I suspect next-listen may be last-listen given their age). I've also no longer got a stereo system since I hadn't used it worth commenting on in years (as in, before I left Illinois in '02, so moving it from IL to MA might've made sense, and from MA to MN made less sense, and from MN back to MI made no sense).

I'm kinda hoping Someone Else does the digitization of the tapes (and maybe even has the audiophile expertise to clean up the quality) so I can snag mp3s after the fact. :-)

Scott did a little clean up of the one tape he digitized, but he doesn't have either the time or the expertise to do a really good job. I'm also a bit sad looking at the tapes because I sandwiched things together as I had space. I generally can't even say which con or what year a particular song came from.

When would be a good time for getting together? We don't know Scott's schedule for the weekend yet, but we're hoping he won't be working. We'll probably go to the downtown library some time on Sunday. Other than that, we have no definite plans.
