In case it's useful: My phone has a touch screen, and there was a learning curve of *how* to touch it to make it register consistently -- it needs a firm touch with the pad of my finger flat on the screen to register properly. (But I have the type of fingers that most touch screens don't register at all, so it's possible that touch screens aren't generally so picky about how they are touched.)
