::laughs:: I just got an email from one of Cordelia's teachers. They're planning to show the kids two movies between now and the end of the school year and are giving parents the chance to opt their kids out. That's not the part that amuses me-- The movies are Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Coraline. The kids will be expected to write an essay comparing the movies to books they've read.

I don't object to the movie. I'm just puzzled by it as a choice for watching in school for an assignment. I suppose, by some stretch of the imagination, it can go along with all the social studies units they've been doing about ancient Greece and Rome.

Coraline makes more sense because they've been studying fantasy in ELA.

Well, Bill and Ted's original assignment was something like how various historical figures would react to modern San Dimas, so maybe a discussion like that featuring persons they've been studying?
