Well, people who actively want us to link to them do tend to let us know when they post meta. The vast majority of people, however, really don't care if we ever link their stuff. They don't mind if we do, but notifying us when they post meta is way too much trouble. Sometimes, when we ask permission to link, people can't be bothered to respond to say yes or no, and we have to assume the answer is no.
Plus, the vast majority of the stuff we link (and the bulk of the work time involved) is non-LJ, non-DW blogs. Generally, about ninety percent of our links come from the Feedly blog list with the remaining ten percent coming from all other sources. LJ takes an hour or two a week. DW takes an hour or two a week. Pinboard takes half an hour to an hour a week. We don't do anything with Tumblr any more. That would probably take more time than the blogs list (which is between ten and twenty hours a week). AO3 has kind of dropped by the wayside, too, but I think the time involved there was about the same as Pinboard.
At any rate, saving time on LJ and/or DW wouldn't help us much at all.
Of course, we're almost certainly missing things in most places.
