The author in question, Christina Dodd, has more than twenty distinct titles in my library's catalog (there are some large print editions, and I didn't feel like trying to track the duplicates out of the thirty two total books), and the library only buys a few romance authors to that extent, only those they know will circulate heavily. The fact that they have some of her books in large print also means she's popular.
This book was apparently published in 2003, so I suppose it's possible that it's an embarrassing early work. But an editor really should have caught the title thing. I really don't know. Judging by the catalog, she writes historicals, contemporaries, and paranormals.
I think the specific Dodd book that was recommended to me was a different one that my library no longer has and that I picked this one more or less at random from the books the library still has. Maybe that other book would have been a better match for me.
