Oh, interesting -- I haven't encountered LGBT-straight alliance type institutions at the middle school level, but you're right that it makes sense for them to be there. In L's middle school, there was at least one kid who openly identified as bi by eighth grade, and a lot of her incoming freshman classmates are out as not-straight also. So, support and a structure that fosters understanding at the middle school level is definitely a good thing -- glad to hear it exists where you are!

My 14-year-old is very sure she's straight, but still thinks all actual boys she comes into contact with are idiots and/or not crush material. Well, 14-year-old boys... she's mostly not wrong :P As for the younger one, I'm pretty sure he likes girls, but not sure if that's the full breadth of it or not.

I hope Scott will be feeling better soon! And good luck with the chicken dilemma. The curse of Too Much Cooked Chicken is well familiar to our household :P
