Oh, you haven't read Hawk yet?! I loved it, definitely my favorite since Issola, and it FINALLY moves the story forward! Can't wait to see what you think of it (and of some revelations therein :)

Re: the Flewelling books -- yeah, the White Road/Shadows Return didn't work super well for me -- White Road had kind of a slavefic feel to it; the second one is better, but not spectacular. And I guess I never got to Casket of Souls?
