That state-mandated rewards program sounds bizarre. One of my kids has a friend who ends up in tears anytime there's a program like that going, because the other kids always get more rewards than she does. It makes her feel like she can't win. So she turns argumentative and refuses to participate in anything at all. It's a quick way to a totally melted-down kid. I'm pretty stunned that the state would require that. What were they thinking?? What little I've read about research about kids' behavior sounds like this program flies in the face of all the research. And to put that in *all* the schools means that a kid like my kid's friend would have noplace to go to escape it.

Sigh.
