The on call surgical oncology resident has decided that the best course is for me to monitor things and to call the surgical nurse practitioners tomorrow about coming in to see someone. The only thing available today is the ER, and neither he nor I really think that this merits the ER. I don't have a fever or any other symptoms. I'm five weeks out from the surgery. The red, swollen part of my breast isn't a part where I have any sort of incision.

He said he'd leave a message for the surgical nurse practitioners and that they might call me, but he added that, to be sure, I should call them first thing tomorrow morning. He suggested ice on the swollen area to see if that helps.

Just wondering how you are doing today.

I have an appointment to go in to see a nurse practitioner tomorrow at 11:30. They had a hard time fitting me in, but it seemed necessary.

My breast is puffier than it was (and all of that is on the opposite side from the incision), and it hurt all night, enough so to make sleeping hard. Of course, the fact that I very definitely have Cordelia's cold contributed to the poor sleep considerably.

I don't have a fever or any other symptoms that would make this matter seem more urgent, though, so there is that.

I'm usually a big fan of ignore-it-and-see-if-it-goes-away, but this really does sound to me like it needs medical attention. I'm glad they fit you in for an appointment, even if it isn't until tomorrow.
