I'm frustrated by how slowly I'm writing these days. I don't think I have anything new to say on the subject, however, so please take this as my usual grumble on the subject.

Nice surprise! Rheotaxis has to be my favourite slow story. And for some reason, I never have to re-read the last chapter to remember where we're at... I'm so glad you haven't just given it up. Slow is better than none with a good story!

You've managed to make the monster that Nagi is fairly sympathetic... Poor Yohji, though! Walking on a razor's edge and getting sliced up regularly no matter how careful he is. That question about Asuka, though... duh! He must have a little unconscious wish for disaster despite his careful planning... It's riveting, as usual. Thanks for sticking to it!

I figure that if it's ever easy either to forget that Nagi's a monster or to stop feeling sympathy for him then I'll have failed to write him correctly. Of course, every time I read back over this chapter, I wanted to smack him.

Yohji, I think, is very, very tired. He's got no real down time to recover, and even small mistakes might wreck him. He's going to slip up somewhere, and there's got to be some temptation to push towards disaster because he might get killed and be able to stop fighting. But he doesn't want to die, and he wants to do what he can to make his situation better-- Assuming he can figure out what 'better' means when it can't be really good.

Yay! I never comment because I suck, but I think this story is fantastic and I love the setting and how everyone in it is so intricately fucked both up and over.

I've been trying to write the characters reacting to the setting and situations as real people would. From what you say, it sounds like I'm succeeding. Thank you.

Out of all the fan-fiction I’ve read, ‘Rheotaxis’ is my all time favorite. It was the weird pairing that first dragged me in, thinking I’d regret it, but it was the outstanding writing and intriguing story line that hooked me for life. Thank you for writing this story :)

When I first started posting the story, I was afraid that the pairing (and especially the characterization of Nagi) would draw flames or mean that no one read the story. Happily, there've been no flames as of yet. ::knocks wood::
