I've started coughing but tested negative on a home test today. I have an appointment at UHS tomorrow morning for an in-office test because the odds of my not having Covid are low.
Scott had a video appointment this afternoon to discuss medication options. He and his doctor concluded that he's not a good candidate for medications. The risk of rebound, for him, is greater than the likely benefit. Our most recent booster was 21 September, and the doctor felt that that is a better protection against hospitalization than the available medication would be. From what she said, she's generally dubious about the efficacy of the medication due to lack of proper drug trials. I also got the impression that she's prioritizing the medication for people who aren't up to date on their vaccinations.
My father's younger brother is in the hospital after a double lung transplant. My father called yesterday to tell me that and to ask me to visit because my uncle doesn't seem to be recovering. I had to say that I couldn't visit because of the risk to my uncle and to anyone else in the hospital. I have a couple of cell phone numbers to try for reaching my uncle and his wife, but I haven't tried because I cough a lot more when I talk. I also can't imagine that my uncle can carry on much of a conversation right now.
But my father is too far away to visit and so are both of my sisters. I think my father was really hoping for a visit by proxy.
My uncle has been waiting for a transplant for about four years. None of us thought he'd live long enough to get one because the doctors were saying 1-3 months when he left the hospital back then.
Depending on how I'm doing tomorrow, I will probably call my cousin to ask him what he thinks. For tonight, I'll be going to bed very early. I'm exhausted and headachy.
I did at least get my Yuletide sign up done. I've filled out part of my absentee ballot, too, but most of the rest will need research. I care about the school board and the library board but know nothing about the candidates beyond their names.
