Anyone know how to save as plain text from either Pages (5.6.2) or TextEdit (1.11)? There’s no obvious way to do it from the menus, and searching help topics hasn’t turned anything up, either. Google is my next stop, but I thought I’d ask in case someone here knows off the top of their head.

I know there’s a more recent version of Pages, but it requires an OS upgrade that my laptop can’t support.

For Text Edit, under Format, you should be able to select "Make Plain Text." At least this works on mine! But I am at work and my mac is at home and I don't know which version I'm running of the top of my head.

Yes - Go to Format -> "make as plain text" is the fix for text edit. (It's also how I make lists of files in folders - you open a plain text, in text edit then you can drag the contents of the folder into the text editor and it will list the filepath/names of everything you dragged in.)

Although tbh I use TextWrangler and Jedit on macs though for plain text stuff.

Maybe cut-and-paste into a text editor?
