Dear NPT Author,
Whatever fandom we matched on, I'm going to be thrilled to get a fic. I may have more to say about some fandoms than others, but that doesn't mean I love any of them less.
I'll read gen, het, and M/M or F/F slash, but I'm tending more toward gen these days. I'll read any pairing (or none!) and also threesomes and moresomes, but I prefer to avoid incest or underage (under 18) sex. I'll read any rating but am tending more toward G and PG fics right now.
I like crossovers, but I'm not familiar with a lot of the big, currently popular, western media fandoms, and I tend not to watch things until they come out on DVD (Netflix). If you're inclined that way, a search of my journal tags for dvd logging and either tv or tv logging or a check of the (now ancient) recs on my website will give you some idea of what I know. I like missing scenes and stories that expand on backstory. I don't mind angst, but I like to see the pain buy something, even if it's just character growth. I like divergent AUs, the sort where one detail changes and differences ripple out from there. I like time travel stories of various types. I like five things stories.
I dislike zombies, vampires, and unicorns. I'm really upset by child harm (I can handle a passing reference. Detail not so much). Horror, in general, is not for me. I don't like transplant AUs, the kind where they're all suddenly in a rock band or a coffee shop or whatever. I'm deeply uncomfortable with most RPF; the exception is if all the real people have been dead at least a hundred years.
I don't particularly care if the story is in the style of canon as long as the characters are recognizably themselves. Sometimes a change in style gives an entirely new view of characters or events.
For each of these fandoms, I've talked a little bit about what interests me, and I've sometimes given story ideas. I'm not particularly attached to any of those. If you have an idea that you love or even just like, go for it. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I'm fairly easy to please.
The specific requests:
Phineas and Ferb (Vanessa Doofenshmirtz) - I like Vanessa's secret romance with Monty Monogram. Something exploring that could be fun. I'm also curious as to what happened to Vanessa in either of the canon AUs in which her father conquered the Tri-State Area. She definitely should exist in the AU where Candace succeeds in busting her brothers due to time travel. She might or might not exist in the Second Dimension AU. There are other questions about Vanessa-- How did she discover that her father is evil? Has she introduced Monty to her mother? When did she first meet Perry? I've written this fandom once, for Yuletide. That was a Second Dimension story.
The Pretender (Miss Parker) - The Pretender was the first show that really strongly captured my attention, the first one for which I sought out and read fan fiction. I enjoy the paranoia and the layers of conspiracy. I have not read the novel yet and probably won't get to it any time soon. I do prefer that Miss Parker not be given a first name. I'd rather not have kid fic in this fandom. I'm relatively agnostic about any romance between Miss Parker and Jarod. I don't object to it, but I don't ship them avidly. I don't mind Thomas in the fic. Miss Parker's relationships with the other characters intrigue me. Events after Island of the Haunted are wide open. I've written this fandom twice, both times for Yuletide.
Rurouni Kenshin (Kamiya Kaoru) - I've read all of the manga but have only seen the anime through the Kyoto arc. The characters and setting really captured my imagination. I've always wanted to write for this fandom but haven't ever done it. I would like a story about Kaoru's strengths. I feel that, a lot of the time, she gets the short end of the stick while the male characters are being awesome, and I'd like to see her being awesome, too. (This doesn't necessarily mean fighting. There are other ways to be awesome.) I don't mind other characters being in the story. I'd just prefer a focus on Kaoru. I have no objection to Kenshin/Kaoru romance as long as it doesn't take the focus off of Kaoru.
Slayers (Xellos) - So much of Xellos is hidden that I want to see more of him. I don't necessarily want his point of view (though that would be cool!) because I can see how he might be so alien as to be hard to write. I'm curious as to what he really wants and how he feels about Lina and company. I don't ship Xellos with anybody. I'm not sure he's human enough for it to work. That said, I'm willing to be convinced if the story takes you there.
Weiss Kreuz (any) - Weiss Kreuz is the fandom of my heart. It's the one I keep returning to when I write. I think I like the fact that you can do just about anything without breaking genre. I tend to prefer the Kapitel era because I came into the fandom before Gluhen came out, but I don't object to Gluhen particularly. Farfarello is not my favorite character, so I would prefer that the story not focus on him (I note that he was not one of the nominated characters, so I'm assuming we won't have matched on him). I tend to assume that all of the characters are competent and reasonably intelligent. I'm vaguely familiar with Side B and the drama CDs, just by fandom osmosis. I'm not big on Rosenkreus era stories, generally, but I'm prepared to be convinced. In terms of pairings, I tend to favor the obscure. I don't object to the popular pairings; I'm just curious as to how less common pairings might work. Manx/Crawford could be interesting, and I'd be curious to see how someone who isn't me would approach Nagi/Yohji. Omi's the only Takatori nominated, but I'm curious about what growing up as a Takatori was like and would be fine with something in that direction about Masafumi or Hirofumi. Something about one of the female characters could be fun; they don't get much love in the fandom.
