Mostly, I think, Scott's been aiming to fill as much space in the stockings as possible. The dratted things are so big (and such traditional, cherished items) that they're hard to fill.
This year, we're in a crunch between dietary restrictions/changes, serious financial constraints, and being at a loss as to what any of us would do with most of the things you suggest. We don't want to spend more than $4-$6 per stocking for me and Scott.
Cordelia's probably going to end up with a lot of hair bows in hers since I bought those before we realized quite how crunched we'd be, financially. She is starting to wear make up, but I never have, so I have no idea what she might use (also no idea what she has already apart from that my allergies don't like the scent). Gum, though... That might work for her.
