I use honey mostly because it comes in a container that is easier to keep in an accessible location for early morning tea making. The containers mostly aren't too heavy for me, and they're small enough that I can keep one on the counter. The sugar is in a heavy container in a cupboard about ten feet from the stove. In order to move it, we'd have to rearrange a lot of things that we use more frequently. The current location for the sugar is more or less convenient to the stand mixer. the bread machine, and the dining room table. As I can't open it and get anything out of it without setting it down, proximity to a large, flat space matters.
