I have a 14 page form to fill out. They sent me an 'editable PDF' which is only very vaguely editable and prone to crashing Preview if I try to put too much into a text box. There's also no text wrap and no control for font size. I can't read most of what I typed. At this point, I think I'm going to have to type all the questions in a separate document. It's going to take me days, and a good chunk of that will be anxiety wear and tear.
Some of the questions ask for details that I no longer have. I haven't worked in 20 years, and I have no idea what I made per week at my first full time job. I was there for seven years, and it changed every year. Oddly, I have not retained paystubs from the 1990s. I also don't remember what the terrible outdated software that the library used for payroll then was called. I just remember that they'd paid a lot for a long term license and so kept using it well past the point that it was creaking and about to collapse.
Possibly it was called Enable? Something else? At any rate, I don't think that experience with data entry and/or word processing with it is a potential money earner.
I don't even remember all of the places I worked in the university library system while I was an undergraduate. They were student jobs, and I skipped around a bit because I liked learning how different units worked. I don't think I've got a resume in a format I can actually still open. I may not have a resume at all.
Some of the information, I have but can't access immediately, things like my current monthly Social Security payments. The digging through files will take some time, and I'd rather do it with Scott's assistance.
My sister is leaving me in limbo about her travel plans. She called me on Sunday to say that they might not be driving up on Monday (or, at best, leaving much later than she'd previously said) and that she'd text me to let me know. I'm assuming that they didn't leave Atlanta yesterday, but I don't know. I don't know if they left today. I don't know if the minor medical thing she needed to see her doctor for turned out to be major. I hesitate to call because she might be driving or in the middle of something medical.
If they set out today, they'll be going to the western side of the state rather than coming here first. My sister has a high school friend who has a two hour window within which they can get together. The friend is just married and about to leave on her honeymoon, so it's not something with flexibility, especially on short notice.
If they get to Michigan at all, they'll probably come over this way on the 4th. At that point, we'll try to find a restaurant that offers food I can eat and food my sister can eat. Some of our no-go food overlap, but she gets horribly sick with any sort of straight up carbohydrate (she's got SIBO) and any trace of dairy.
I'm worried about how she's going to look because she's having so many food issues that her doctor's threatening to put her on those liquid food supplements in order to keep her from losing more weight. She's kind of generally angry at social expectations in terms of everyone telling her how great it is that she's losing weight even though she's below a healthy weight for her height. I think that some of people's reaction to seeing her is shaped by them seeing her post-mastectomy reconstruction breasts which aren't reflecting the lost weight because there's no fat or flesh in them.
I would like to see her and her son. Cordelia and Scott would, too. It's just hard to come up with things that Cordelia and her cousin are willing to participate in. My nephew apparently said something about 'not another damned museum. Don't you people know about the internet?' Cordelia agrees with the sentiment. Anything out of doors has been vetoed by both kids.
Cordelia's current vote is for watching Stranger Things.
If they come on the 4th, they'll likely bring my brother along. I don't know if his girlfriend will come or not; she hasn't previously, and I worry that she wasn't/isn't sure of her welcome. If she prefers not to deal with four hours of driving and hanging out with people she only vaguely knows, I understand that and wouldn't be upset. If my brother prefers not to invite her along, that's also not a thing that would upset me as long as they're both good with it.
It's just that they've been together more than a decade. I tend to think that means family relationships even in the absence of a marriage license or moving in together (they both own houses; neither intends to move).
And who knows? They might be married, and my brother's just not telling us. He took seven or eight years to introduce her to any of us.
