the_rckI've been sick for the last 2-3 days. I thought it was an IBS flare, but at this point, I'm pretty sure that it's not. I've eaten very little in the last 36 hours, and it's been all simple carbohydrates. I skipped my coffee this morning because I knew that I couldn't handle either the half and half or the coffee. I had caffeinated tea with honey. I think that was too much, but I really didn't want to do without caffeine completely.
We have a family thing tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll be going. It's our BIL's birthday, and Scott's sister has asked us to bring our own food because she doesn't expect anything to be ready within my time window for eating and because the main course won't be safe for Scott.
We had the power go in and out about three times last night. The longest outage was about five minutes, long enough for me to decide to bring up the DTE website on my phone but not long enough for me to report the outage.
The last few days, I keep thinking that I could work on specific tasks and then not managing to focus enough to get beyond intention into progress.
My ability to play Ingress may be gone. I tried to open the program I use, Scanner [Redacted], but was informed that I now have to upgrade to Ingress Prime. Ingress Prime still eats battery at prodigious speed. Even if I started out with a full charge, I couldn't even manage a half hour walk. I have portable rechargers, but my phone is finicky about having the recharging cord in exactly the right place. It's very hard to charge the phone unless I can leave it in a position where nothing will jostle the phone or the cord.
(The phone had this problem back when it was Scott's, and we've tried a lot of things to try to remedy it. The problem seems to be simply that the phone is old and that the socket needs replacing. Doing that is expensive enough that replacing the phone would make more sense. Scott and I need to discuss this at some point when I'm not sick and Cordelia isn't home. There are a lot of items on the list for that mythical time.)
Ingress Prime also has issues in terms of my hand tremor. If my finger moves as I touch the screen (and it usually does), that often activates actions and/or menus that I don't want and can't quickly extricate myself from.
There are also some display issues in terms of color contrast (gray on black is always terrible for me. This purple is bad, too) and in terms of putting important information on top of portal photographs (I don't mind not being able to see the photos. I mind that the print is often the same color as parts of the photo, rendering it unreadable). The designers have tried to add a layer of mistiness/unreality to a lot of inventory items that I find difficult to look at.
I like the change in capsule management. I like the change to how the current charge status of a resonator displays. I'm not sure I can come up with a third positive change.
I haven't tried using Ingress Prime away from WiFi since I was forced to upgrade. I expect that the battery drain will be worse when I don't have that (because it was before), but my estimates of time are based on me doing things like portal recharging and inventory management. I set the program to battery saver mode before I did anything else and turned off sound effects and notifications, both of which crank up my anxiety.
Not playing Ingress will pretty certainly mean not going for rambling walks any more. I won't have a shield to keep me from wrecking myself with anxiety. I used to use books, but that's not really feasible now. I can't read on my phone in any reasonable way, and I can't hold anything heavier or larger.
