I cooked dry chickpeas the other day. I soaked them in a closed plastic container in the fridge for toward 24 hours, drained, rinsed, put them in new water, and boiled for two hours. I didn't notice any that were split after that treatment, for whatever that's worth. Anyway, I suppose split chickpeas would be preferable to chickpeas that cause digestive problems. :-S
