My thyroid tests as normal, so it appears that my hair loss is just one of those things. My doctor says that it can happen. I'm glad I checked, though.

Today I go to the spine clinic (leaving in about half an hour). I'm very nervous. The clinic is in an awkward location for me to get to it, so I'm hoping not to have to go back very often or very soon, but I'm also hoping desperately for help. I want life that isn't constantly colored by the pain in my leg. I want to be able to sit down.

My initial plans for getting to the clinic fell through when my nephew came home yesterday quite ill. My sister-in-law, quite reasonably, doesn't want to leave him. Fortunately, there's another mother in our neighborhood who's able to help. I hated to ask her because she's got an eighteen month old to keep track of, but she says she can get me there and back again.

I'm a little less concerned about the 'back again' part because there's only one real possibility for that by bus. It's a longish walk with two major streets to cross (Eisenhower and State), but the bus comes every fifteen minutes. I can take that bus to get to the clinic, too, but it's a long way. I wish the A-Ride didn't count the Briarwood stops on the wrong side of Eisenhower when determining how far the clinic is from the bus. Those are near as the crow flies, but it's a long way to a crosswalk.
