Jeannette came over yesterday for a couple of hours and helped out with some of the yard work that we need done. Scott was home by then, fortunately, so he was able to participate too. Jeannette focused on tying back the black raspberries and clearing out some of the bracken and proto-trees while Scott did the pruning out front. It's late in the year for pruning evergreens, but it really did need to be done. Those bushes block access to the water meter and overhang the front steps (we don't really have a porch, just a flat spot at the top of the steps) and front walk. Jeannette seemed actually to enjoy herself. She says she likes the opportunity to rip up vegetation. She got about halfway along the fence before she had to leave.

I got part of the inventory done Friday night. There are still several bags in the basement that I need to go through and a few items in the garage. I just need someone to bring all of that stuff up the stairs and into the house. Scott keeps saying he'll do it, but I don't think he understands that I need it done now and not next week. It's two weeks till the shower, and I must finish the registries today.

We rented Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Friday night. I didn't like it as well as I liked the first movie, but I did enjoy it. I think that they're trying a little too hard to stay literally true to the books. Some things don't translate well and others distract-- A movie needs to be more focused than a book does.

Today, we've rented The Tuxedo. It was amusing in a fluffy sort of way. I think I can see why some Jackie Chan fans disliked it given that he's not doing quite so much in the way of personal physical stunts, but... The man's not as young as he used to be, but he's still brilliant. I think it would be a shame to lose his future work just because it's not the same as his past work.
