(no subject)
Dec. 29th, 2004 10:00 amOn Sunday, well... Waking up to news about the earthquake was... I don't have words. I didn't gather a lot of information on it immediately because Delia was up and about. I think she's old enough to get scared without being old enough understand what's so scary. And this is a terrible, terrifying thing. So many lives gone and so many others devastated. We will be donating something (Scott's comment when I broached the subject was, "We'd be cads if we didn't."). I'm just still trying to figure out which organization will make the best use of the money.
Around noon, Scott took Delia up to his parents' place briefly. They're in the process of moving, and they wanted to give us a loveseat. Scott's brother-in-law has a truck, so he helped. Scott also took the snowblower (which his parents gave us, thinking they'd have sold the old house long before they'd ever need it again) to help them prepare for when the movers come. I believe Scott and his brother-in-law also shifted a few things for Scott's parents while they were there.
Scott's mother played with Delia while Scott was busy. I've been informed that Old MacDonald's farm only has one type of animal, at least when the choice is left to Delia. She always says, "Sheep."
I had intended to nap while Scott and Delia were out, but I'd been awake too long. Also, it occurred to me that I needed to clear a path from the door to where we were putting the loveseat (against the wall in Delia's room). So I ended up cleaning and knitting. I finished the last scarf just in time to give it to our brother-in-law so he could take it to his mother for me. That was a great relief.
That evening, Conrad, a friend of mine from college, stopped by. We generally only see him once or twice a year because he's in New Jersey now. His parents, however, are still in Michigan, so he does visit regularly. We talked about games and the various programs on the SciFi channel. It was, overall, a very pleasant visit.
