Apr. 11th, 2007 08:44 am[Insert suppressed cursing here.] (Suppressed cursing because I can't use that sort of language in front of Delia without her starting to use it, too.)
We had someone in to repair the furnace on Monday afternoon. It stopped working again last night some time, probably relatively early last night given how cold it is now. I'm going to call the place that did the repair to see if they'll take a look at it for free given that I suspect that it's the same problem. We'll have to pay something, I'm sure, because this means that the problem they found and fixed is only part of it, but [more cursing] they should have found the problem on Monday.
Scott still wants to get a third estimate on the furnace and maybe a fourth. I just want to get the damned thing replaced and be done with it. There's a $500 difference between the estimates. The lower one is offering us a no-frills Bryant furnace (we can't figure out what features it does have because all Scott can find about it is mentions of models with extras that build on it and list what extras those models have). The higher is offering us a near top of the line Trane and offers us the option (for extra money of course) of adding on an air filtration system that our research shows might help my asthma.
Anybody know anything about Bryant furnaces?
My story writing is being further delayed. Yesterday was a dead loss for writing because I got an early morning (as in, it woke me up) informing me that one of my credit cards was past due. This freaked me out because (a) we never carry a balance on the dratted things, (b) Scott pays the bills and (c) the woman was trying to force me to authorize payment over the phone. We got the whole thing sorted out when Scott got home, but it was enough to push me to another migraine and leave me unable to think at all.
Maybe I'll manage to write today. My history of not writing while the furnace is acting up tends to indicate that I won't, but... I have to try. I don't have much time left. I'm not quite 3000 words into the story, and I suspect that that's, at best, the halfway point.
