Nov. 26th, 2007 10:35 amI'm going a little crazy right now.
Delia is too sick to go to pre-school. I'm supposed to assist today. Since she can't go, I can't. I'm trying to find another parent to take my place and coming up absolutely empty. I've called everybody who isn't signed up to assist today already and who doesn't use the child care for younger siblings. The child care is only available on Wednesdays, so those people can't easily take assists on Mondays or Fridays. Given longer notice, it's possible that one of them might find a sitter, but...
There's a person who's called the 'emergency assist.' She'll be stuck staying if I can't go, but at the beginning and end of class, the emergency assist has jobs to do that conflict with the stuff that she'll have to do if she does a full assist. Plus, I just talked to her, to warn her, and she's sick, too. I feel dreadful about it.
There are still four families with whom I left phone messages. One of them might get back to me in the next hour and a half. Maybe. In the mean time, I have to call the six families that use the child care. I don't have high hopes, but I won't be sure until I ask.
Of course, what I'd really like to be doing is trying to get Delia to the doctor. She's got a cough, runny nose and fever and has been sneezing a lot. She's also a bit dehydrated because she doesn't want to drink anything (popsicles don't work well with her. Last night, she licked one once then let it melt because she didn't want it).
She's supposed to spend tonight with Scott's parents so that I can go to an early morning doctors appointment. I don't know if that's going to happen. I need to talk to my mother-in-law more about that, and I'd like to have Delia see a doctor before we make a decision. At this point, I think we're going to be stuck with a late cancelation fee on the appointment no matter when I cancel (if I do).
