Mar. 16th, 2009 09:30 amCordelia turned out to have strep. She hadn't had a sore throat, so the possibility never occurred to me. The pediatrician we saw on Friday did two throat swabs on the off chance. The rapid test was negative, but the longer test turned out positive. Cordelia's taking antibiotics and is back in school today. I'm hugely relieved to have a little bit of time and space for myself.
She's still sniffly and coughing occasionally, and I fear she'll spread the cold at school, but that's part of school. She's no longer contagious for the strep. She didn't eat much breakfast. Some of that is that everything's tasting weird since she started the antibiotic, and some of that is that she got used to sleeping in last week. I didn't manage to get her to sit up until about 8:00. She stumbled into the living room with me after her alarm went off and promptly went back to sleep.
I'm on week three of this cold. I got a lot less sleep last night than I wanted. I stayed up about an hour longer than I should have, reading, and then coughed for a couple of hours after that. I slept through Scott's alarm entirely. I suppose I should count myself lucky that I woke to my own alarm.
Okay, now to finish the things I didn't get done this weekend. First comes the Weiss rewatch summary. I should have posted it yesterday, but it needs to be in complete sentences first. At least this episode is simple to summarize, unlike the last one I did. Second, I think I'll sign up for the Finish-a-thon again. I had a lot of fun last time. Third, I'll sign Cordelia up for summer camp (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's still space. I should have done it two weeks ago). Fourth, I'll call Rec & Ed to get more information about Cordelia's possible soccer team. The coach called this weekend. He doesn't know where they'll be practicing, but he asked for a different school than the one Cordelia attends and only has four kids from her school on the team. I don't know if we'll be able to fix that, and I really, really don't want to be imposing on the one other mother I know for rides to every single practice and game. They don't live near us and are probably closer to the other school than we are. Fifth, I need to start serious work on the fic challenge community I'm planning to try to put together.
I won't get to all of that today, but I want to get to most of it if I can. Leaving any of it undone will increase my stress levels. I also need to do dishes, sort laundry and bake banana bread (the one breakfast Cordelia reliably eats). Oh, and finish at least one Netflix DVD. I've been working on one for two weeks in ten minute increments and would like to finish it off. I've got about two hours left on it.
