Jul. 2nd, 2012 11:46 amThursday's softball game seemed to last forever. It was quite hot, and Delia went through half her bottle of gatorade in the first inning. Scott had to go out and buy more. I think Delia made it on base three times. She got tagged out at first once. The coach got upset a couple of times and started arguing with adults from the other team. He also made his daughter cry. He hasn't done this sort of thing before, so we're inclined to blame the heat. At least this game was at a park with shade. The other parks where we've had games lacked shade, and we'll be going back to those parks for the remaining games of the season.
Saturday morning, Delia went to Splash Universe with one of her friends. She returned home really pleased about the whole experience. She really loves waterslides, and the place has some. In the afternoon, she invited a friend over and had a grand time with that, too. I just wish she were less likely to yell at her friends. When she does that, I wonder why they'd be willing to visit her ever again. She doesn't do it all the time, but she does it enough to worry me.
Sunday, Scott was off. Scott's sister's daughter came over to visit and to spend the night. She went with us to Delia's softball practice and alternated between exploring the park and watching the practice. The practice was relatively laid back. Only four girls were present, so they each got a lot of attention from the father running things (the normal coach was absent).
Surprisingly, the girls went to sleep relatively easily. Our niece asked for hot milk (and got hot almond milk because that's what we have) to help her sleep. The girls got up about eight and got their own breakfasts. They'd asked me last night if they could put on nail polish in the morning, and they seem to have done so (judging by the smell of nail polish and nail polish remover).
The week is going to be busy. We have to pack for our vacation, and Scott may be working several evenings and (if we're unlucky) the fourth. The evenings are because second shift is down four people out of the seven who normally work. Scott's hoping to avoid having to work late tonight because he has an oil change scheduled for this evening. He's also hoping to avoid working late on Friday because we must pack that evening so we can be out the door really early on Saturday. We have to meet Scott's parents in Lansing by about ten so that we can figure out how to transport Scott's brother's family.
