After a couple of years of not much eczema, Delia suddenly has quite a bit up and down her arms. I think it may be the sunscreen she used while we were on vacation. She's fine with the Coppertone that we normally buy, but somebody bought some Walgreen's store brand sunscreen, and she used that quite a bit because it was handy. We're applying Delia's eczema ointment regularly, and the rash is retreating.

We got home from vacation reasonably early on Saturday. There was a delay. Traffic on 96 was backed up for miles near Brighton. We listened to Rick Riordan's The Red Pyramid on the trip. Scott and Delia are listening to it while working on cleaning and other things at home in hopes of finishing it this week (after this week, they'll need to listen to it separately. Delia can get through it relatively quickly at home, and Scott can listen to it in the car while he's driving).

The one tomato plant that I bought had ripe tomatoes when we arrived home. We picked about six, and Delia devoured them with pleasure. She said they were much better than what we get from the store.

We ended up buying Chinese carry out for dinner. We had little in the house and were too tired to shop on Saturday.

Sunday, we had softball practice. Scott and I did some shopping for produce at Whole Foods during practice and then went to Barnes & Noble. Scott did the rest of the grocery shopping after practice.

Monday, we had a softball game. The field where it was had some shade for spectators, but it was several yards from the diamond. We had to move once because the shade was moving further and further from the diamond. There were fourteen girls present to play, so five had to sit out any time the team was on the field, and each girl only got to bat two or three times. Most games, there are nine or ten girls present. I think the other team won, but I'm not really sure.

I managed to finish the first part of my Narnia fic. I've got one or two more sections to write, and I need to buckle down to it. I know how the next section starts. That's on the agenda for this evening.

Today, it's been really hot. I had to go out in it for a doctor's appointment. The buses were running late due to preparations for Art Fair. It took me nearly forty-five minutes to get downtown when it's usually less than half an hour. I was a bit worried that the bus wouldn't stop at the stop where I was waiting to catch it. There were two city maintenance trucks parked by the stop, and I wasn't sure the bus would be allowed to stop. Fortunately, it was. There were about fifteen of us waiting, including a big group from the science center camp.
