Nov. 12th, 2012 05:25 pmSaturday was the first volleyball game that both Scott and I attended. Delia's team won one game and lost two. Everybody's serve is improving. Returning volleys is still hard. There are a couple of girls on Delia's team who are terrified of the ball. They flinch hard when the ball comes near. The way the rules work is that there's a point on every serve. If the serve doesn't make it over the net or goes over but goes out, the other team gets the point. If it lands in, the serving team gets the point.
Scott spent the afternoon working on trying to rehang the front storm door (the back one is impossible. The door is too wide for the opening). Unfortunately, he lost the screws that should hold the door on its hinges. On Sunday, he found some screws at Home Depot that he hoped would fit. They're close, but they don't thread right. Scott now plans to get a kit for rethreading the openings. Unfortunately, we've lost the good weather. It was in the sixties all weekend but is now in the thirties again. It takes two people to try to get the screws in because one person has to hold the door. Scott managed to put together a stack of bricks and boards so that I could balance the door and not have to hold the weight of it. I couldn't hold the weight of it. I also couldn't thread the screws in. My hands shake, and I'm not dreadfully strong.
Sunday, we had lunch with Scott's sister and her family. Her birthday was in late October, while she was in Florida with their parents, and this was the chance for us to give her her present. We went to a coney island place, I think it was called Leo's. Scott had grilled cheese with fries, Delia had French toast, and I had a burger with broccoli.
We couldn't stay very late at Scott's sister's place. I had forgotten to take my lunchtime meds with me and needed to get home to take them. We also needed to go to the library, and Scott needed time to work on the door.
After dinner, Scott took Delia shopping. He'd promised her that he would. I'm not sure why. They were gone for about an hour and a half. While they were gone, I managed to start my Yuletide fic. I don't think I quite managed 100 words, but it's something.
