Mar. 11th, 2013 01:54 pmFriday, I had lunch with
odosgirl. We talked mostly about what we've been writing and reading. She's hoping to save up enough money to go to a conference in Paris next year.
We were late to Cordelia's game on Saturday. I'd gotten it into my head that the game was at 9:50 when it was actually at 9:40. We might have been late anyway-- Scott had to work 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. and then needed to shower. He was barely ready in time to get us to the game at 9:50.
In the afternoon, Scott took Cordelia shopping for shoes. The school variety show is this week, and she's singing a duet with a friend. She plans to wear a dress, and the only shoes she had were her sneakers and her snow boots. I'm not sure I approve of the shoes she got. They're white, open toed and have a heel. Scott says they were the only ones she was willing to consider. She'll have to wear other shoes during the walk to and from the school on Wednesday so that she doesn't get mud on the new shoes.
Sunday morning, the toilet overflowed. It was, fortunately, pretty much clean water. We were able to clear the clog and mop up the water. It meant an extra load of laundry, but we could deal with that. I'm going to be watching the toilet carefully. It's never done that before, but having done it once, it might again.
At 1:00, Cordelia had practice for Disease Detectives. There's so much information for the kids to learn that I despair of them learning it. Fortunately, Cordelia remains optimistic. She's not very interested in doing the necessary work, but she's optimistic.
After Cordelia got back, we went to the library then picked up bubble tea. I've now loaded three audiobooks on my iPod nano (as opposed to my non-functional iPod). That'll last me a few weeks of treadmill time. I've only got so many all at once because the first audiobook I wanted looked like it wasn't going to come in in time, so I requested another. Both came in at once. The third book is the immediate sequel to one of the other two. I'd gotten it out for Scott to listen to in the car. Rather than check it out again in a few weeks, I decided to deal with it now.
I haven't gotten a chance yet to listen to any of the audiobooks. There's no school today, and I've got a couple of extra kids for the day, one of Cordelia's friends and her six year old brother. The boy has been playing Wii games all day while the two girls come in and out. They don't want to spend all their time with the Wii and want some little brother free time. The boy also refused to eat lunch. He didn't want the mac 'n' cheese that I made because it wasn't made by his mother. I figure it won't hurt him to skip a meal. If he gets hungry later, I'll feed him.
