Yesterday, one of Cordelia's friends and her little brother came over for the day. Their father dropped them off on his way to work and picked them up on his way home. They'll be coming again on Monday (It's spring break) because their mother has to be at work and was rather desperate for someone to take them. Cordelia is happy to have them, and they're not really more work than just Cordelia.

The biggest challenge is that the girls don't generally want to play with the younger brother. Yesterday, he spent pretty much the whole day playing Wii games. I hope he doesn't get bored with them because I don't have anything better to point him at. He mostly played Wii Sports Resort game. He seems to particularly like the basketball games.

Having these other kids over does mean getting up at the same time we would if there was school. I'm willing to do it, but part of me wishes for that extra two hours. I've been told that it's bad for me to sleep in, but it feels so wonderful.

In the afternoon, Scott's sister and her daughter came down to color eggs. (Our nephew is on his way to Florida with a friend's family.) Cordelia's friend and her brother are Muslim and had never colored eggs. They told us that they have a kit at home that they got free at a yard sale but that they've never used it. I'd boiled three dozen eggs so that each child would have a dozen to color. The boy did six before he got bored. The girl did all of hers. Cordelia did ten of hers. Our niece did all the eggs they'd brought for her.

We played a game of Apples To Apples Disney before my sister-in-law and niece left, and the kids all played outside for a while while my sister-in-law and I talked. It was pretty laid back.

Scott, as it turned out, didn't have to work late. He didn't do the grocery shopping on his way home because he'd left the list at home. He also didn't stop on the way home for the other necessary errand (because we both forgot)-- Our toilet seat cracked clear through yesterday morning. We had to replace it. Scott and Cordelia went out after a new one after her friends went home while I stayed home and cooked dinner (spaghetti with ground turkey in Alfredo sauce). They apparently saw several tempting things at Home Depot.

After dinner, we all went grocery shopping. It was nice to be able to look at things and decide what I wanted instead of relying on Scott. I mean, I give him a list every week, but I like selecting my own frozen lunches and apples and such. There are also a couple of sections in the store where there are things we'd like to try, but deciding to gamble and experiment really takes all of us.

Today, at about one, we went out to run errands. The first stop was the bagel store. We were late enough that they had very little left. We got two rye bagels (for Scott), four honey whole wheat and six blueberry. Then we swung by the library to drop off our books. From there, we went to a middle eastern restaurant. Cordelia tried chicken shwarma and didn't like it. She said it tasted good but was 'too spicy' for her. ('Too spicy' is her catch-all term for anything that she doesn't like the taste of. She uses it for things that aren't spicy by any metric I'd use. In this case, I think it was the garlic she objected to.) At least she tried something. She ate some hummus and a bagel, and we called it good.

Then we went into town so that I could get bubble tea. From there, we went to Fourth Avenue. I went to Tea Haus, looking for tea infusers (I found them). The place was crowded enough that I didn't try to inquire about their teas. There must have been ten people in line, waiting. While I was doing that, Scott and Cordelia bought smoothies. Cordelia disliked both smoothies, unfortunately. She was a bit down about that as she could have had bubble tea instead. She just liked the idea of a smoothie.

I've been running laundry today. Usually, that's a Sunday thing, but there won't be time tomorrow. We'll be spending a good bit of time with Scott's family.
