Last night, Cordelia's school had their annual open house. The idea is to have parents come in and see what their kids have been working on all year and then to have parents and kids visit the classrooms where the kids will be next year. Scott had PT, so he couldn't come. Cordelia was really eager to go but seemed kind of at a loss when it came time to show me stuff. We weren't able to see the fifth grade classroom or talk to the fifth grade teacher because he was hosting a meeting for fifth grade parents to talk about fifth grade camp.
After forty-five minutes of open house, the school had an open reading time in the multi-purpose room (cafeteria with a stage). Several teachers had books and read them to small groups. A lot of people brought books to read, and a few people brought blankets to sit on. I took my e-reader but discovered that it was almost out of charge. Also, I wanted to talk to the woman I was sharing a blanket with (I hadn't thought to bring one. She knows me and offered to share). Cordelia took her book and went to sit on the stage with a girl from her class.
Scott's Babylon 5 game met last night. I arrived late, but they hadn't really gotten started. (Normally we start at seven, but Scott's PT didn't finish until seven, so we'd told everybody seven-thirty. I arrived a bit after eight.) The game session was kind of disjointed. We had an ethical dilemma to resolve and talked in circles about it. Then our characters all went off in different directions. Scott was feeling rotten, due to having a cold and sore throat, so he didn't push hard with any plots.
This morning, I took Cordelia to school an hour early so that she could go to cross country (I don't think she actually runs. As far as I know, she mainly goes to talk to her friends). Cross country is Tuesdays and Thursdays in the spring. Then I came home for almost two hours. I signed up for Not Prime Time during that time. At nine-thirty, I headed out the door to go see my psychiatrist. I got there a bit less than half an hour early.
The appointment was straightforward. We're not fiddling with my medications, so I'm only going in once every couple of months. The appointment ended at eleven. It was raining, so I almost decided to head straight home. I decided I could survive being wet and headed up Liberty to Totoro where I had a beef teriyaki bento. Fortunately, I was wearing my long, down coat, so the rain didn't soak through.
After I got home, I lay down for about forty-five minutes. When I got up, I started sneezing. I haven't really stopped since. If this had started four hours sooner, I might not have signed up for Not Prime Time. I'm a bit afraid that I'll lose next week to having a cold. Scott's about a day ahead of me with this cold. He's got a sore throat. I'm not looking forward to that part. Cordelia seems to have a mild version of this-- All she's got is a stuffy nose, and she's had that for about a week.
