The Girl Scouts meeting was pretty boring. It was all business set up. Part of having the whole thing be girl led is getting them to figure out how they'll be making decisions-- consensus or simple majority voting. That particular decision had to be made by consensus and took a long time. This troop decided to make all decisions by consensus. I don't think they realized how time consuming it will be. Oh, well. They'll learn a lot from it.

My bit didn't come up until the last twenty minutes or so. I explained the three different aspects of the fundraiser that the girls can do. I also explained that, even if the troop chose to do one particular aspect, a individual girl could choose not to do that part. There was one girl who didn't want to do the fundraiser at all. The rest of the girls eventually concluded that they wanted the option to do all three fundraisers. I don't expect all of them will end up doing all three.

I had just enough sale packets to give to the girls who had signed permission slips for the sale. There were one or two who wanted packets but couldn't get them because they didn't have a signed permission slip.

The meeting was made more difficult for me by the fact that the space has no chairs. It's just a room with curtained storage areas around the sides. There were a couple of tables that we used to display various things. Everybody but me sat on the floor (I really can't). I found a piano bench (there were two pianos, each with a bench).

We're meeting in a community center, near the school. Meeting in the school isn't an option on Sundays. The other alternative was to meet at someone's house, and that would have been nearly impossible, given the number of girls. The plan is to meet once a month, on the first Sunday of the month. We're supposed to have an activity every month. This month, the leaders will have to come up with something because the girls didn't have time to discuss it at the meeting. We also have to make sure that whatever we do this month doesn't cost any money as we've none.

I tried to make bread today. I used our bread machine, of course. Everything was going along swimmingly until we lost power to the bread machine and the toaster oven. The circuit breakers are fine. I can't reach the outlet to check it. The power strip might be the problem. I don't know. The bread is ruined. It got about halfway through baking. It looks done, but it can't possibly be when it still had between fifteen and thirty minutes to go.

Scott should be off work any time now (after a twelve hour day). I'll tell him to pick up bread on his way home. I don't see getting the machine working in time to make more bread.
