I'm going to try hard to carve out some writing time this weekend. I at least want a hundred words a day. I can do that much surely. I can do this.

Scott's parents were planning to come to today's soccer game, but they just called to say they're not coming because it's too cold. It's 50 right now and sunny. The game's in an hour and a half. Next week's game is at nine, so it's likely to be just as cold if not colder. They have to come then, however, because they're planning to take Cordelia from the game to their place for an overnight. We want Cordelia to practice spending the night away from home without her iPad so that she can manage fifth grade camp.

Scott worked 3:00 to 7:00 this morning, so he's exhausted. We were really hoping that he wouldn't have to go in. He put the odds at 50-50. I suppose we can't win them all.

Scott's applied for another promotion at work. He thinks he has a chance at this one, but he's not sure how good of one. It's a position that comes with unpredictable overtime and some (relatively local) travel. Basically that part of the job involves traveling to meet with customers any time something goes wrong with an order. I don't know how far away they ship their product. I know it's regional because they have other plants in other parts of the country. I just don't know how much area 'regional' covers.

Scott's basically applying for every job that comes up that would take him off the factory floor. We're hoping that one of them will work out. This particular job wouldn't be my first choice because it sounds stressful, but it would be better than what he's doing now.

It was quite cold at the soccer game. The wind was nasty. I'm very glad I wore my winter coat. Cordelia didn't seem to mind. She wore pants instead of shorts and a long sleeved shirt under her team t-shirt. Cordelia's team lost by two goals, but they played well. The team they played against has generally been pretty tough in seasons past, so they did pretty well.

During the game, I sat next to two mothers I know. They mostly talked to each other.

Cordelia has spent the last forty minutes in tears. Her friends down the street invited her over today, any time this afternoon, but she's terrified to go over there or to call to find out if she's still welcome. She wants me to call for her, but I've told her that that's her responsibility. I did offer to walk over there with her. She rejected that. Scott offered, too. I don't know what to do. Making that call for her just encourages her to keep avoiding what she's afraid of, but she's collapsing under the pressure. I don't know how to decrease the pressure.

I've suggested that we need to go back to the social worker again, but Cordelia is adamant that she doesn't want to go. I may have to insist. I mean she can't even walk down the block and knock on the door or pick up the phone and make a call.

AT&T claims they fixed our line last Sunday. Unfortunately, we're still having just as much static on the line and just as much time with no internet. Scott has reopened the service request. Hopefully, this time they'll actually fix the problem. Who knows what they did last time? The static on the line is so bad that it's nearly impossible to hear a word anyone says.

And Cordelia's friends from down the street just came by looking for her. She happily went out to play with them.
