Jul. 1st, 2014 12:47 pmLast night, we had a softball game. There was no shade at the park where the game was, so it's a good thing Scott brought our shade umbrellas. Unfortunately, he's misplaced half of the pegs that are supposed to hold them down, so they weren't entirely stable. It was in the 80s, not dreadfully hot but hot enough to feel it. Cordelia is complaining about the amount of time she's spending outside, away from air conditioning, this week. She'll survive.
Cordelia's team lost the game, we think. Scott and I don't keep score, so we only have a general sense of things. (They always draft a parent to keep score, but the whole process is very complicated and requires paying close attention to the game in order to record what happens to each batter in detail. I don't ever want to do it. I'd be sure to botch it.) I think Cordelia only batted once. She struck out once and walked the other time. She did a decent job in the outfield. We just have to figure out how to persuade her to change how she throws-- She throws like the ball's a shotput, hand at shoulder then pushing outward. Scott's tried to get her to swing her arm, but she doesn't see the point. We think she feels like she has more control, doing it her way.
I called my mother during the game. She's recovered nicely from her kidney stone and surgery. It's hot in Baton Rouge (not that that's news). Apparently my brother is looking for house to buy. He's getting kicked out of the place he's been renting for years and years because the landlord's son wants the house. My brother had been hoping that, eventually, he could buy the house he's renting. He's got a master's degree and a steady job that he started even before he finished his degree (he did an internship with them, and they liked him enough to hire him), so we're hoping he won't have trouble getting financing.
This morning, I went in for a fasting blood draw. I always worry when I do those because they say not to engage in heavy exercise before going in, and walking Cordelia to camp and getting to UHS is fairly heavy exercise for me. Oh, well. Hopefully, everything will be fine as usual, and if it isn't, hopefully changing my medications will fix it.
I woke today with a headache. Having to put off coffee didn't help. I took some Tylenol when I first got up, and I lay down for a little when I got home. It didn't help, so I gave in and took an Amerge. That seems to be helping, so apparently it was a migraine. It's so hard to tell. It's a little weird that I should be getting a migraine. Usually, I get them a day or two before my period, but that was last week. I've been known to have cycles as short as twenty days, but seven seems vanishingly unlikely.
