I forgot to call my mother last night. I remembered about 10:00, but she was likely to be in bed by then. She falls asleep about 9:00 and gets up around 5:00, no matter what's going on. I shall have to remember tonight.

I did my time in the school library yesterday. I started by pulling fifty or sixty books for a kindergarten teacher. That took about twenty minutes. After that, I checked books in and out and shelved books. The third class that came in doesn't normally do book check out on Thursdays, but they did this week because their book check out day is normally Monday (when there was no school this week and will be no school next week).

I took in a bag of books to donate. I couldn't actually carry all of the books we wanted to donate, so I brought about two thirds of them. That was really more than I should have done. I was having trouble breathing by the time I got to the school from a combination of the exertion and the cold, cold air. I'm asthmatic to cold air under the best of circumstances, but normally the three minute walk to the school isn't a big deal that way. The librarian was particularly pleased to get the I Spy books as ours are in better condition than what the library already has. Those books are popular.

In the afternoon, our cleaning lady came. She'll come next week and then not at all during February. I'm trying to figure out what of the things she does I can manage to do (and what I can get Cordelia to help with. She's very resistant to the idea) as a month is a long time to go without some sort of cleaning. I can probably do most of what she does in the kitchen, except for the mopping, if I space it out carefully. I'm not so sure about the bathroom. I can probably manage to keep the toilet clean, but I think the tub will defeat me. I definitely can't change Cordelia's sheets, and I'm not at all sure Scott could either (she has a loft bed. Changing her sheets requires climbing up there and crawling around).

Scott stopped at Target on his way home, but he forgot the one thing we needed for dinner, so he had to go back out again after he got home. He did pick up some clothes for himself at Target, some flannel shirts mostly.

We had baked potatoes with cheese (the ingredient Scott had forgotten) for dinner. One large potato makes a pretty good meal. We probably ought to have supplemented it with vegetables of some sort, but none of us were hungry enough to eat more. Next time. I'd have made chicken, but the chicken still hadn't thawed. I'm not sure it will have completely thawed by tonight, but I really need to cook it.
