May. 4th, 2015 02:29 pmI slept poorly last night. I went back and forth between being too hot and being too cold (I slept with just a sheet, and we had our ceiling fan going). I was also stressing out over the appointment scheduled for this morning-- It's always a challenge to remember to fast for a blood draw. Getting coffee and food is so much a part of my routine that I'm always afraid I'll do it without thinking about it.
My alarm went off a bit before Cordelia's did, but I stayed in bed and let her have her morning time alone. I knew I could get up and dressed in under fifteen minutes if I wasn't trying to get coffee or food, and Cordelia always leaves by 7:50. I did end up checking my email and other such things for longer than I meant to, so that it was past 8:15 when I called for a cab.
The cab took about half an hour to arrive, so it was 9:00 by the time I got to UHS. I went straight to the lab for the blood draw and managed to get that dealt with before my actual appointment. My doctor kept me waiting quite a while which is unusual for her (I'm especially surprised because UHS is a lot less busy once the students leave at the end of April). I think it was about half an hour after my scheduled time when she actually saw me.
She did spend quite a while with me. She's sending me to someone else about the lump in my breast. She's pretty much taking the attitude that she doesn't care what the mammogram says, she can feel the dratted thing and doesn't want to ignore it. She's also sending me for a bone density test (and added a vitamin D test to the blood tests she'd already requested. Fortunately, they didn't need to draw extra blood for that). Then she decided to send me to dermatology for a new skin tag right next to my eye. I'm not sure that that merits a trip to a specialist, but... Who knows?
The woman I worked with at the managed care office managed to schedule the bone density thing and the dermatology appointment for the same day, within two hours of each other. The breast thing will be at the same place but almost certainly a different day. I like this managed care woman because she actually understands the difficulties of transportation. Getting the two appointments in the same place on the same day is aimed at saving me cab fare, so is scheduling them at Taubman rather at East Ann Arbor and Domino Farms.
Scott is unexpectedly working late tonight. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for dinner. I think there's turkey thawed, and I might be up to getting that into the oven. I'm not sure, though. I did a lot of walking around already today. I suppose I'll have to wait and see how I feel. I'm not sure there are any other good options. I don't have enough cash to send Cordelia to Subway again. Maybe pizza... Cottage Inn takes credit cards. There's Jimmy John's, too. I've never tried them, and I don't know that they take credit cards, but it seems likely that they would.
