Jun. 5th, 2015 11:11 amI slept badly last night. My brain simply would not shut up. It wasn't anything terrible, just stories I couldn't let go of, but I only actually slept between when Scott got up at 5:00 and when I finally got up at 9:00. Naturally, I have a headache. I could, I suppose, go back to bed. I don't have anything I have to do until about 2:45, but it seems a shame to waste the day that way if I have an option. I am seriously considering more coffee.
All of my habits, in terms of getting things ready for the cleaning lady, have gone out the window. I haven't done most of them since mid-March, and now that I can do them, I generally don't remember to. I'm having an awful time just remembering to water the Christmas cactus. I don't think I did last week at all.
Scott sounded really terrible last night, and I know he seriously considered calling in this morning, but he didn't, and he'll be working twelve hours. I wish there was a way for him to get out of the overtime, but I can't think of one.
I actually ended up finishing that anthropological book I mentioned yesterday. I thought I still had about 100 pages to go, but it turned out that most of that was the index, glossary, end notes, etc. I'll say more on my next book logging post.
I will have two extra kids for a while this afternoon. Tonight is the PTO's Ice Cream Social fund raiser, and Cordelia is going to go with her best friend and her friend's younger brother. I can't go because I really can't handle being on my feet for two hours straight. Scott, of course, won't get home until the thing is almost over (He'll have to take the two other kids home after, and he's agreed to that). I was very surprised that the other parents agreed to have their two kids go unsupervised given that the younger is only about eight, but his sister promised to keep track of him, so they decided that it was okay.
I have decided that I'm going to try writing the darkfic story for Remix first. I'll have the other two as options if I can't get the set up right (and that will be the challenge of that particular story). The original is labeled AU, but I think I can pull it into canon, more or less, with a simple tweak. I don't think the AU/not AU will matter much in the end, but it was something I had to make up my mind about.
Next week, on Wednesday, Cordelia's class is taking a big field trip. They'll be gone twelve hours. They need to be at the school at the time when Cordelia's normally just getting up. She's not entirely pleased by that thought. She's also not sure how to handle the instructions to layer pants over shorts (they'll be out on Lake Huron part of the day, and it will be chilly) when all of her pants are basically skin tight. Changing won't really be an option from what she's been told.
