Jun. 21st, 2015 11:38 amI completely forgot to wrap Scott's Father's Day present. Oh, well. He can deal. I suppose I can dig in the cupboard for a gift bag while he's showering. That would be fairly easy to do. I got him a couple of books, Jeffrey Brown books. He likes those.
In another hour, we'll be heading up to Scott's sister's house. All the guys in the family will go golfing (I think they only do nine holes). I expect to be thoroughly bored because I can't take a book or my laptop without being rude. Gatherings like this also throw me way off on my food and medication schedule because dinner is generally at 5:00. I need, on a weekend, to have lunch and my lunch meds around 2:00 (because of getting up late) and then dinner and my dinner meds around 7:00. I can generally make a snack work with the dinner meds and have them on the way home, but the lunch meds are more difficult because there usually isn't food available when I need it and because bringing my own food is viewed as rude.
I probably ought to chop and cook the broccoli we'll be taking. I'm just putting that off right now. I'll do it after I finish this post.
I posted my Remix last night about 11:30. I'm not completely happy with it, but I think it works fairly well as it stands. I suspect that some (possibly even many) readers will be unhappy with where I ended it because there are a lot of unanswered questions and because the point of view character is walking into a potentially dangerous situation, but I think the point of the story is getting him to where he can do it.
Scott and Cordelia did the library run yesterday. Cordelia has a hold that's almost certain to come in today, so there will have to be a mid-week trip downtown to pick that up. I didn't go to the library because Scott and I were expecting Cordelia to want to go around and gather codes for the library's summer game. There was some sort of event at the library this weekend that would mean a couple of dozen codes available just for the weekend. Cordelia even seemed interested in doing that when she and Scott were getting ready to go, but Scott told me, after, that she showed no interest in it once they were there. I wonder-- I told her to take some paper and a pencil to write down codes, and she refused. She was certain she'd be able to get that from the library staff. I wonder if maybe that stuff wasn't actually available?
I kind of suspect that I'm going to dither about signing up for an exchange until all the sign up periods have ended. I kind of want to sign up, but I also kind of don't. All of the exchanges I'm looking at have things that I'd enjoy writing but not so much that I'd be interested in requesting. I like that exchanges get me to write things I wouldn't otherwise, but I've got so many stories I've started and not finished that I'd like to complete one or two of those. I just don't know.
