Jun. 23rd, 2015 10:06 amWe had massive thunderstorms last night. They went on for about three hours. Because we have all the windows open, none of us slept through the storm. We lost power briefly, around 2 a.m., and had to reset our alarm clocks when it came back. The tornado siren did go off at one point (and it went on and on for about ten minutes), but when we consulted the National Weather Service website, there were no reports of actual tornados, just thunderstorms that might spawn tornados, so we stayed upstairs.
The weather is beautiful today. It's fairly cool (but not cold) so that it's pleasant to have the windows open. I may not bother shutting the windows after the air conditioner is finally installed. I think it's too nice out to actually run the dratted thing.
I got up at 7:30 because I'd been told the air conditioner guys might arrive as early as 8:15. They didn't actually arrive until a little after 9:00, so I could actually have slept longer. Of course, they didn't bother to call to let me know they were on their way. They were supposed to call, but not calling seems to be a perpetual problem for these folks, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. They do always show up during their planned window.
Cordelia stumbled out of her room about twenty minutes ago, looking very sleepy. I don't think she's had breakfast yet. I hope she won't let the fact that we have technicians in the house put her off eating.
We still have two loads of laundry to wash (Cordelia did two yesterday, but we needed to run the dishwasher, so we didn't have time for more). I think we should be able to fit in both loads between when the technicians leave and when Scott gets home.
Scott was expecting to work late last night, but he ended up getting off work on time. We even managed to get dinner in time to go to Orange Leaf for frozen yogurt before it was too late for me to eat. I was cautious and had salted caramel and vanilla fro-yo. I had no ill effects later. I'm not sure if it's that it was early or if it's that I stayed away from the chocolate flavors.
It's pleasant enough that I might actually consider making more brownies. We all like them, and it's going to be too hot to bake soon, so I feel like I might as well.
Scott's father wants to come over and help us out with some chores. He prefers yard work over things inside, but we're not sure what sort of yard work he's actually up to. The Father's Day golf outing was the first time he'd played in at least a year and a half, and it wore him out. Scott and I came up with a list of possible chores, and I emailed them to Scott's mother to get her opinion on which he could reasonably do. He mentioned going after the trees growing between the fence and our garage and the fence on the other side and the neighbor's garage, but we're not sure that's such a good idea. It does need to be done, rather desperately, but we don't want him to overdo, especially not if it's a hot day.
I did a very little bit of link finding yesterday. I've got a few hours of that ahead of me today. I'll try to get my act together to start right after I post this. Maybe I'll see if I can handle listening to that book on CD while I work.
