Sep. 7th, 2015 01:00 pmI ended up watching four or five episodes of Once Upon a Time last night once Cordelia bullied me into starting. I'm not hooked. There's nothing out and out awful about the show; I'm just not particularly into it. Regina is about the only character who interests me, and she doesn't interest me very much.
All of this wearing of bras and compression tops is making my right breast, the one that hasn't had anything done to it, ache. Unfortunately, I can't let it hang loose and still keep pressure on the left one. I suppose this is one drawback of not having worn bras for a couple of decades.
I want to get something soft and squishable that I can stick in my left armpit. I'm more comfortable when my arm is held a bit away from my side and things don't have a chance to abrade or adhere. A folded washcloth is too small and too thin. A wadded up scarf compresses into too hard a lump. I tried the beanie baby monkey that Scott's sister gave me last night (I was desperate, okay?), and it was a little too large and a little too hard. Maybe a large, thick, clean sponge? Is it still possible to buy such a thing? Would Scott understand what I wanted if I asked him to look?
Scott made coffee cake this morning. He loves the coffee cake that his mother makes, but he doesn't get it very often. I've never mastered making it, and he doesn't generally have time. It's okay coffee cake, but I don't have the emotional associations with it that Scott does, so it's not my comfort food.
The library still hasn't found the seventh missing book. That one is Cordelia's, and I had to renew it yesterday. I really hope that particular book hasn't gone walkabout. It's part of a moderately popular YA dystopia series, but it's old enough not to have a waitlist.
I finally heard back from Cordelia's teacher about the email I sent her and the principal right after my diagnosis. I still haven't heard a peep from the principal. I mean, as it turns out, we won't need the accommodations I wrote to ask for, but they have no way to know that. At the time, I thought my surgery was likely to happen while Cordelia was in school and that we'd have to make arrangements for her to ride the school bus with her friends for a few days. That requires some paperwork, and I emailed the teacher and the principal both to let them know that Cordelia might be upset/worried and to ask what I needed to do to set up for the bus thing in advance. If everything had gone on the original schedule, I'd be having surgery next week or the week after, and the question would be fairly urgent. I realize that the principal is busy at this time of year, but she really could have forwarded the message to someone who could get back to me so that we could figure it out.
Scott and Cordelia just left for the Saline fair. I really hope they have fun and that it doesn't get too hot. My phone says it's 77F out there right now, but my phone gives the temperature at the airport which is usually a couple of degrees lower than where we are, and it's very, very sunny which will make it feel warmer. I know Scott's hoping the girls will get too hot early on and want to come home. I think he's dreaming. They did take water bottles with them, at least, and put on sunscreen.
Scott just barely made it to the library before it closed yesterday. Cordelia refused to go with him because it would interrupt her reading time. She's currently rereading Mockingjay and really wants to finish it before school begins tomorrow because she knows she'll need to focus on new to her books after that.
Cordelia has taken possession of my iPod. I hadn't used it in about a year and a half, so it's not a really big deal. I still might want to get back to walking on the treadmill. No, I do want to get back to walking on the treadmill. I just don't know when I'll do it or if I'll manage it regularly. I'm going to give priority to Sit and Be Fit and try to work my way up to doing Body Electric again.
