Oct. 2nd, 2015 12:23 pmI was up for about two and a half hours in the middle of the night last night. Basically, reflux woke me around 2:00, and I ended up in the living room for about two hours. I slept through most of Cordelia's morning routine, waking only long enough to give her a hug goodbye. Then my sister woke me at 10:00 by calling my cell.
I was expecting to have someone come by this afternoon to do a furnace tune up, but the company called to ask if they could reschedule. A lot of people turned on their heat for the first time this fall yesterday and discovered that their furnaces weren't working, so the company is trying to give those people first priority. Our furnace seems to be working fine; we just want to catch any potential problems in advance. I agreed to reschedule but asked them to fit us in next week since I don't know when I'll start radiation, apart from not next week.
My digestive system is still kind of cranky. I had instant oatmeal for breakfast, and that left my tummy unhappy in a sort of refluxy way that I didn't expect. I'm not sure if it's that I'm wearing the compression top (over a t-shirt) or if it's that I'm more anxious and stressed than I think I am. Given that stress pretty much bypasses my mind most of the time and settles in my body, I really can't generally tell.
Dinner last night shouldn't have given me trouble. I had a turkey burger with cheese and bun and some frozen peaches. The most stomach upsetting bit of that was the charring from the grill, and that shouldn't have caused the trouble I ended up with. I feel like I should eat conservatively today, but I have no real idea of what that might look like. I mean-- oatmeal giving me trouble?
Scott's working 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, so I can't ask him to cook when we have leftover turkey burgers (and nothing else thawed). Maybe I could bake some tilapia and eat it plain? It's cool enough that running the oven isn't a terrible thing. An easier thing would be microwaving a chicken patty, but those have enough grease to be a problem for me just now. I have one can of cream of potato soup, but... That seems unlikely to be a good idea. I'm already thinking that lunch will be more frozen fruit and maybe some raisin bread (we're out of plain bread, and making some would take about four hours. I want lunch in about 45 minutes).
I may ask Scott to pick up some caffeinated pop on his way home tonight so that I have an alternative to coffee tomorrow morning. It's not a great option, but I think I will want caffeine, and coffee may be too challenging.
