Well, duh. It just occurred to me that I’ve been taking anaprox at prescription dosage for several weeks now (five or six weeks). I’ve never had this problem with it before, but it’s been at least fifteen years since I last took it for this long.

According to Medline, reflux while taking this medication is a stop medication and call your doctor sort of thing. It being almost 1:00, I decided to email the radiology nurses instead. It’s been about six hours since my last dose, so it’s probably pretty thoroughly absorbed by now. I simply won’t take any in the morning or until my various doctors say that I should.

I’m by no means certain that the medication is the culprit. Reflux is something that happens to me. I’m not feeling terrible, apart from the reflux, and have no other symptoms, so I don’t feel that I should, for example, wake Scott and insist he take me to the ER. My suspicion is that the radiology nurses will need to consult with both my radiologist (who wants me taking some sort of NSAID, mostly for inflammation) and my gastroenterologist. I mean, I could call and talk to the on call radiology resident, but what is he or she going to say? At this time of night, it’s a choice between the ER and waiting for morning.

It’s my brother’s birthday today. I have to remember to call him this evening. He’s at work right now, so calling would just get me his answering machine. He’s thirty seven this year and owns his own house, but part of me still thinks he’s seven, the age he was when I left home.

We got to the restaurant for Scott’s sister’s lunch before anyone else in the family did. She hadn’t made reservations which surprised us given the size of the group, but it was fine because we were the only people in there for the first half hour or so. No one else needed the large table. I ended up ordering a burger. That was the simplest thing on the menu and the cheapest, but I still had to have them leave off some stuff— tomato sauce and pepperoni. The burger was the one thing I was sure wouldn’t have basil or oregano.

Our nephew didn’t come because he had to work. I suspect we’re not going to see him much for a while because he’s working both Saturday and Sunday every weekend.

Scott and I went to the library right after we got back from Brighton. Cordelia didn’t want to come, so we left her home. I had three things to pick up, and Cordelia had one. I have seven DVDs to watch this week, and three of those are multi DVD sets. I’m not optimistic that I’ll get through them, so I’m going to give priority to those that can’t be renewed which at this point is Kingdom of War (2 DVDs and subtitled), When Marnie Was There (which Scott will want to see, too), and Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 1 (3 DVDs). I have two weeks on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, so I’ll probably start with Kingdom of War after my appointment this afternoon, assuming I’m awake enough for it.

When Scott went to cook dinner, he discovered that the bag of chicken breasts he’d been thawing had leaked into the produce drawer and underneath it. We ended up washing a lot of stuff with bleach. Fortunately, we hadn’t put much in the produce drawer, so we only lost some carrots and some lettuce. I tend not to put stuff in the produce drawer when there’s room elsewhere in the fridge because we’re apt to forget about whatever’s in there until it rots.

Cordelia keeps insisting that we turn on the TV during dinner, pretty much always to the Food Network. Then she finishes eating five minutes later and wanders away without saying she’s done. Scott and I end up trying to figure out if we can turn the stupid thing off or put on something that appeals to us. Of course, when she was really tiny, I ended up watching a good bit of Food Network stuff when I was trying to stay awake or needed company. I could be sure there wasn’t going to be anything on there that would be in any way scary or child inappropriate.

I did end up sleeping okay once I went to bed last night. That was about 1:45, so I’m dragging a bit this morning. I’m debating more caffeine, either coffee or coke. I’m also thinking that, if I’m up to it, I should try making spinach bean soup. I’ve got all of the ingredients, and it’s pretty easy to make. I think it might be something I can eat when I’m having problems getting myself to eat other things. It’s got plenty of protein, too, and that’s something I’m supposed to focus on.
