PT yesterday went pretty well. I like the therapist. She’s an Indian-American woman about ten years older than I am. She gave me a compression pad thingy to wear under my bra, but I’m not sure it’s going to work. She didn’t actually have my size, so she gave me the closest she had. The dratted thing adds nearly an inch to the size of my breast, so my bra doesn’t fit right over it (I looked into bigger bras, but this particular kind doesn’t come any bigger and is the only one I found with front closure at this size). The entire point is to have the pad pressing against the underside of my breast, but for that to happen, I pretty much have to hold it in place because that’s the spot where things not fitting right happens the most.

The pad is also very itchy. I can help that by wearing something thin underneath, and I’ve been going with nightgowns. That means I wear a nightgown, the pad, a bra, and then a shirt. Of course, when I wear a shirt, it’s harder to hold the pad in place, so I’m mostly not wearing a shirt. We’re expecting guests tonight, so I’ll have to do it then.

The therapist suggested that I wear the pad at night, too, but I’m not convinced it’s necessary. When I wake up every morning, my breast has only one, fairly small hard spot, so the swelling/fluid build up goes away over night, while I’m lying down. It gets steadily worse all day while I’m upright.

I’ve got four chores I definitely want to get to today: emptying the dishwasher, baking bread, a load of laundry, and shelving a few more books. If I get really ambitious, I can look into what it would cost to repair the loveseat and chair in the basement (the supporting straps under the seats have completely died and need to be replaced. We’ve been intending to get that done for several years now). None of this stuff is likely to take long. I’ve just been putting it off in hopes that the headache I woke up with would go away (instead, it’s gotten worse. Joy).

I finished two of my four library books last night. I think the remaining two will be harder. One is short but not precisely my sort of thing. The other is longer and is something I’ve barely started. I suppose I’ll see. And, of course, I’m not going to be doing any book reading while my head is still hurting.

The dishes are done, and I’ve washed out the bread pan and started a loaf of potato bread. It’s not a recipe I’ve tried before, so I have no idea how it will come out. I put away the laundry I washed on Sunday and put the stuff that’s accumulated since then in to wash. I shelved a handful of books and pulled about ten off the shelves as things to get rid of.

I’m still fighting with that headache. I’ve tried four different medications, and I’ve tried food and more coffee (with actual sugar this time). Nothing’s touching it, and it’s been getting worse. I’ve also been drinking a lot of water in case it’s dehydration.

I want to get those B author hardcovers shelved in the next hour. I shelved the L-P hardcovers and the B-C paperbacks in the basement. I’m not sure I can get at anything else down there. Some of the H hardcovers fit on the shelf up here, and some go downstairs. I need to check to see where the dividing line is. I took all of the paperbacks downstairs and left the D-F stuff on a table down there. Mostly, what’s left in the box now is graphic novels, manga, and some over sized children’s books that I want to keep because they’re from my childhood.

As far as books I want to get rid of, most of them seem to be things that are selling for a penny plus the $3.99 fee on Amazon. I rather think those aren’t worth trying to sell. Someone will likely buy those books at the Friends of the Library book shop, however, if we donate them there. But I don’t know if I want to search to find out which books are worth trying to sell. I mean, I probably have time for it. I just don’t know if I want to deal with it.

I don’t know if anyone who reads me is interested in writing mysteries, but I’ve got three volumes from The Howdunit Series of books that were written as references for mystery writers. They’re all at least as old as Cordelia (so twelve years or older), so the information is decidedly dated, but I thought I’d ask if anyone here wants them. The books are:

Blythe, Hal, Charlie Sweet, and John Landreth. Private Eyes: A Writer’s Guide to Private Investigators.

Wingate, Anne. Scene of the Crime: A Writer’s Guide to Crime-Scene Investigations.

Stevens, Serita Deborah with Anne Klarner. Deadly Doses: A Writer’s Guide to Poisons.

I’m willing to ship these within the US, singly or all together. For international shipping, I’d need help to meet the cost. Also, I’m pretty sure that the information in the books is very US centric, so that and that datedness may make them not worth international shipping.

If I get more than one person wanting these, I’ll look for some sort of random number generator, but I’m kind of not anticipating much interest.

I finally got rid of the headache. It took sudafed and mucinex to do it. I should have thought that it might be sinus related given the cold.
