Feb. 14th, 2016 12:12 pmSomehow the box of chocolates Scott bought yesterday has completely vanished. I think there were only about fifteen of the things. I had quite a few, maybe as many as six. Scott had, according to him, ’not very many,’ which could mean anything, but I’m pretty sure that Cordelia ate a lot of them, including the two that were left when Scott and I went to bed and then gone when I got up (before Scott) this morning.
evalerie gave us a bunch of empty boxes from her daughter’s Girl Scout troop’s cookie booth. They’re still out in the car, so I don’t know how many there are, just that Scott says there are a lot and that we’ll need to reassemble them because they’ve been flattened. I’ll get Scott to bring those in later today so that I can see if they hold everything and if there’s room for me to pull more books to be discarded.
Cordelia went to a dinner at Cottage Inn for her friend’s Bat Mitzvah, so Scott and I planned to get carry out from the local Syrian place. Unfortunately, it turned out that they were closed. They’re normally open Saturdays and until 7 or 8 in the evening, so it was unexpected. I told Scott to get either Wendy’s or Subway since those are in the same mall and wouldn’t involve too much waiting. He got Wendy’s but forgot that I shouldn’t have bacon and got me a bacon burger. I feel like I should have found a middle path between not eating the thing because it would make me sick and eating it so that Scott wouldn’t feel bad. I ended up needing to stay up until nearly 1 to avoid reflux.
Cordelia unexpectedly ended up having her best friend spend the afternoon. It made sense given that we were giving the other girl rides to and from the Bat Mitzvah and the dinner. It’s just that Cordelia never told us it was going to happen. Fortunately, Scott called me so that I knew to get dressed.
We spent a good long time last night working on the extras on the blu-ray of Spy. They were worth watching, but they went on forever. We’d watched about an hour’s worth last Sunday, and we wanted to get through the rest of them since the movie is due back at the library today and can’t be renewed.
Cordelia’s friend and her brother will not be coming over at all this week. That’s rather disappointing for Cordelia, but it will be easier for me. I think it may be that, now that the kids are ten and twelve, their mother feels more able to leave them at home on their own as long as they don’t need to cook. I plan to encourage Cordelia to go to the library today and pick out some books. I’m not sure she’s got enough to keep her all week, and it’s cold enough that I’m not enthusiastic about her taking the bus into town.
