Oh, joy. We've been selected for the American Community Survey which is basically the census long form in an off year. I was going to try to get through it myself, but it's asking questions that I can't answer without access to Scott's files. So it will have to wait until he's home. The questions are vastly intrusive, and while I believe them that agency employees won't share our information, I kind of doubt that they've got the sort of security I'd like on anything electronic.

I did check to make sure it's a valid thing. Sadly, it is. I think that finding the information they want will be the hardest/most time consuming part. If it was a paper form, I could skip around and fill in the bits that I have immediately on hand, but it's online and not set up to allow that.

Scott's trying to get Aetna to talk to him. He keeps trying to do it by email in the hope that that will be faster/easier than calling. It won't be, of course, but he keeps hoping.

Cordelia's planning to go trick or treating with her best friend tonight. I thought that they had decided they were too old, but Cordelia's friend really wants to go. I think it may be more about the two of them walking around without parents for a while. The weather's not looking altogether promising, but there are hours left for that to change.

I have to get the trash out today and put away the clothing and dishes that I washed yesterday. Apart from that, I'm going to watch a ridiculous movie and listen to some podcasts. If I manage to write, that would be wonderful, but I'm somehow not feeling like I can.

Scott destroyed my rice pack Saturday evening while he was trying to repair Cordelia's phone (he needed a heat source and ended up way over heating the rice pack. I'm not sure why he didn't ask me how long to microwave it). He's ordered a replacement, but it hasn't arrived yet. I really hope it doesn't take long. I used the thing several times a day and really desperately miss it. If I had an easy way to get to somewhere where I could buy one, I'd do it.

Probably, I should just dig in Cordelia's room and find hers. Maybe she won't get too mad about me going in there and poking around. She's a little iffy on my getting dirty dishes and dirty laundry out. Well, she's okay with it as long as neither of us admit that it happened.

My laptop is occasionally going instantly dead, as if it had no power, when I'm trying to run on the battery. When I get things restarted, everything will say that the battery still has power (58% after it happened this morning) and that the battery is in good shape. I haven't tried taking things apart to see if everything's clean and connecting right. We're going to have to replace Cordelia's laptop by the end of the year, and I really don't want to have to replace mine, too. We'll finish paying for hers and mine this November. They're both refurbished Macbooks from late 2008 that can't run a lot of current software. It doesn't so much matter for me-- email, web browser, word processing, and iTunes are about it for me. Cordelia's getting into making projects/presentations that are going to require more current software. She's also interested in playing games.
