Dec. 8th, 2017 07:51 amWe had two extra kids over for dinner last night. Cordelia's old school was having their Expo night, and her best friend's younger brother is still enrolled there. He had to be back at the school at 5:00, so going home made no sense. His sister came, too, and she and Cordelia attended Expo as observers (it's open to the community). We got pizza (Cottage Inn got the order right! Yea!). Cordelia and her friend seem to have had fun. They thought the kindergartners were utterly darling, and they got stuck spending five minutes with their least favorite teacher ever (but also got hugs and time with teachers they liked).
Scott did the library run and growled at me a little after because there was so much stuff waiting to be picked up. He doesn't believe me when I tell him that putting holds on just ordered titles or things with long waitlists is a gamble about when they'll come in. Of course, he doesn't place holds himself, so he has nothing with which to compare. For the first time in a very long time, my list of not yet my turn holds is under 20 items. I'm not currently planning to add anything to it but new to the library system stuff until I've gotten through some of these other things. I've got seven graphic novels; getting through them ought to be easy enough, right?
I've got a DVD set due on Sunday that I won't finish unless I do nothing else (it can be renewed) and one movie due next Thursday that can't be renewed. Everything else is due in early January because of the changes they're making in the library's computer system. My current plan is to mix in some stuff off of my TBR shelf with the books I've currently got from the library and just not check out much else.
I've got 20 CDs from the library because an 11 CD set came in that had 45 or 50 people on the waitlist when I put the hold on. That's the one that Scott really doesn't believe I planned the timing on, but I think that's because, given the other things in the bag, the set didn't fit and so had to be carried separately.
Right now, I'm listening to Saga Thing's episode on The Saga of Hen-Thorir while putting some audiobooks into iTunes. I'm not sure how many episodes I'll get through in the process because iTunes is slow this morning.
I would like to write today, but I'm not sure what to work on. Likely, I'll start with a beta read that I left half done when I got sick (I did the initial comments but wasn't up to looking at and commenting on the changes), assuming the author hasn't found someone else to look over the edits. I'm trying to figure out what I can beta well and what I can't. My fear is that it depends heavily on how I'm feeling physically and emotionally right then.
