Fic Announcement
Feb. 19th, 2018 01:57 pmFour fics here. The first is just something I posted recently. The following three are all from Chocolate Box which revealed authors this morning. The first two stories are Amber (the Chocolate Box one is even fluffy as my stories go). The other two are both Star Wars, one Original Trilogy and one Prequel Trilogy.
I didn't sign up for Chocolate Box, so I didn't receive any stories. I've been reading a little in the archive, but I still seem to be having trouble getting myself to read much. Ah, well. More writing time.
Title: Trapped Between the Memory and the Moment
Fandom: Chronicles of Amber - Roger Zelazny

Length: 2700 words

Notes: Part of the House of Sulfur and Mercury canon divergent AU.
Falls immediately after "Your Future Has a History" in continuity. In that story, Luke chose to have most his memories altered and/or erased. Him having chosen that is the referenced suicide.
This story assumes that Martin got stuck doing the things with/to Coral that Merlin did in canon and so requires some level of sentience for the Pattern which is not usually something I keep for this set of AUs.
The rape references are for the Pattern-made-them-do-it aspects of Martin/Coral, for her having (canonically) been unconscious at the time, and for every single relationship that Luke is or has been involved in.
The rating is mostly for implications and for almost everyone being a terrible person.
Summary: Martin wants very much to be a better father than Random was. That requires actually talking to Coral.

"Cousin." The word was so quiet that I almost didn't hear it. "And I did try to kill you a couple of times. I just... wasn't very good at it. If I tried now, I might actually manage it."
He wasn't looking at me, but I raised my eyebrows anyway. "Somebody's still trying to kill me." That was as close as I was going to get to saying that he was lying about this, too.

Luke watched both of them with great care and tried very hard not to imitate either. Pain, fear, and desperation weren't going to be enough to drive him down either path toward poisoning his soul.
His deepest, most secret fear was finding a path to damnation that was entirely his own.

He knows. She couldn't have explained how she knew, and she suspected that Anakin wouldn't believe her. Anakin was too certain that no one had noticed their... connection.
"You'd be safer, Padme," Anakin said.
